OBSERVATION
Observation skills are
essential to the Montessori classroom teacher. The student
will receive an overview of observation and documentation
techniques. The student will do a number of documented
observations in different settings. Observation opportunities
are designed for the student to focus on various elements of the
classroom and to develop the ability to observe the
developmental processes within individual children and to assess
their needs according to Montessori principles. As a
Montessori teacher, one of the most basic skills must be the
objective, careful observation of each child. The
observations include not only the materials used by the
children, but the physical, social, emotional and intellectual
development of each individual child.
