ADMISSIONS AND
EARLY CHILDHOOD CERTIFICATION

"The most difficult thing to make clear to the new teacher is that because the child progresses, she must restrain herself and avoid giving directions, even if at first they are expected; all her faith must repose in his latent powers."

 -Dr. Maria Montessori

CANDIDATE FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD CREDENTIAL

The candidate for the AMS Early Childhood Credential holds as a minimum: a bachelorís degree from a regionally accredited U.S college/university or its equivalent from a non-U.S. college/university.

ASSOCIATE EARLY CHILDHOOD CREDENTIAL

AMS grants the AMS Associate Early Childhood Credential when the course graduate does not have a bachelor's degree. Employment requirements vary in different types of schools (e.g. private, public/charter, faith based, publically funded).  In some locations or schools, an Associate Credential may not qualify for full teaching responsibility.  The applicant is responsible for checking specific jurisdictions and schools for particular employment requirements. VCMS and AMS recommend that the candidate obtain their bachelorís degree in order to improve employment opportunities.

TRANSFER CREDITS PROCEDURE:  VCMS accepts applications from adult learners who want to transfer from other MACTE accredited AMS affiliated or non-AMS affiliated programs.  email vcms@westendmontessori.com for policy and details.
