To apply, send VCMS:

  • Completed application

  • Three letters of recommendation

  • Personal statement explaining your interest in Montessori education

  • Official transcripts from your most recent educational institution

  • $100.00 non-refundable application fee

Once all application materials are received, an interview will be scheduled.  A successful interview will lead to a student contract.  The student will be fully accepted into the program upon receipt of the signed contract, a $500.00 tuition deposit, and the $300.00 accreditation and affiliation fees. Applications must be postmarked by May 1; applications received after this date will be charged a $200.00 late processing fee.  Once accepted into VCMS, the intern will be responsible for locating a VCMS approved practicum site.  VCMS will provide information about area Montessori schools.

 

Candidate for AMS Early Childhood Credential:

The candidate holds as a minimum a Bachelor�s degree from a regionally accredited U.S college/university or its equivalent from a non-U.S. college/university. Non-US college/university degrees will be noted on the credential with reference to the country an degree program that awarded it.

 

AMS grants the AMS Associate Early Childhood Credential when graduate does not have a Bachelor's degree. Employment requirements vary in different types of and in some schools, an Associate Credential may not qualify for full teaching responsibility.

 

Candidates without a bachelor�s degree will be awarded an AMS Associate Early Childhood Credential.  VCMS recommends and encourages that candidates obtain their bachelor�s degree in order to improve their employment options and to fulfill the expectation for continued professional development. Teachers with an associate credential are eligible for a Full AMS Early Childhood Credential upon completing the bachelor�s degree requirement.

 

Applicants are required to sign a statement verifying that they received this information as part of the enrollment process.
